Her three A* grades were in Physical Education, Science and Additional Science, with 5 grade A results in English Language, English Literature, ICT, Geography and Religious Studies, 2 grade Bs in Art and Maths with 1 grade C in German.

Brantwood school closed in February 2010, with only ten weeks remaining for their Year 11 pupils. Left without a school, the girls from Brantwood then continued their final weeks up to GCSE at Sheffield High School. With Brantwood staff they are now celebrating all 14 pupils gaining 5 or more A*-C grades, with over a third of the subjects at A* and A grade. Not only did the majority gain between 7 and 11 GCSEs each but, astonishingly, there were 54 passes at A* and A grades!

At the time of the Brantwood closure, these girls had difficult decisions to make and, if they had gone their separate ways, they were faced with going to schools in the middle of coursework and to new exam boards with specifications which were different to those they had already followed during their previous two years of hard work. The offer from Mrs Dunsford, head teacher at Sheffield High, to stay together as a unit with their teaching staff coming in to take them through their last paces, was welcomed by all sides.

Brantwood Head Girl Olivia Smith, aged 16, said at the time of the closure ”I was devastated after the closure of Brantwood. I had been there 12 years and it was like my 2nd family. The transition was hard work but, thanks to the High School, I am coping well”.

Fellow pupil Nikitta Barnett, also aged 16, agreed ” It was such a shock to hear that Brantwood was shutting down, but the High School has been very supportive which makes me feel more confident about my exams and more comfortable in the new environment.”

“The girls and their teachers should be very proud of what they have achieved in such difficult circumstances,” said Head Valerie Dunsford on the Brantwood results, “to see all the girls gaining such excellent grades is truly remarkable.”
