Hockey Success at Sheffield High

Twenty-two pupils from Sheffield High School were selected to represent their county, South Yorkshire, in regional hockey tournaments across the North.

Girls ranging from Year 9 to Year 12 were selected from the Sheffield, Rotherham and Doncaster JDC’s (Junior Development Centres) to attend weekly training and skill development sessions with South Yorkshire Junior Academy Centre (JAC), honing their technique and increasing their range of skills. Many girls then progressed through the highly competitive selection trials to become members of the JAC squad where they faced other teams from Humberside, Durham, North, West and East Yorkshire. The Under-18 team were placed third in the North, a great achievement, while the Under-15 team came second and Under-14 team finished 3rd in their respective tournament. Congratulations go to Thea Dickens, Gina Fairclough, Katie Wensley and Sophie Beard, Tori Wensley, Tash Douglas and Jo Winder who will attend Junior Regional Performance Centre in Leeds this summer. Congratulations to all the girls on their achievements!
