National Award for Best UK A-level Results in Art

The Art Department at Sheffield High School is celebrating the fantastic news of being awarded the 2009 Good Schools Guide A-level Award for Girls taking Art & Design at AS-level.

The awards are made based on the results achieved over a three year period and take into consideration the success of the pupils relative to their other examinations. ‘Our aim is to highlight excellent teaching in individual subjects’, said Ralph Lucas, Editor of The Good Schools Guide.

The celebration of the award given to ‘highlight excellent teaching’ in this subject could not have come at a better time as the department, led by Head of Department, Gabby Hanlon, is in the middle of planning an exhibition of students’ work. ‘The quality of work in the exhibition reflects the wide range of art experience our A-level in Art and Design offers the students at Sheffield High School and towards their higher education and careers,’ Gabby said, ‘We are very proud of this achievement.’

This Art Exhibition is being held on Wednesday 8 July where work from all candidates taking GCSE, AS and A-level art is to be on show for the girls, their parents and numerous specially invited guests.
